Smooth hairline

When wearing certain hairstyles (such as buns), I desire a smooth hairline. However, I don’t always want to use a gel to achieve this so I’m looking for an alternative. I have seen/heard some naturals use Slick Stick, plain shea butter or a pomade before setting with a scarf.

If you have found a solution to smooth your hairline without gel, please share your tips/tricks!

Thanks for reading. Be blessed!

I am not into a super slick style so water works for me. I mist with water, apply a tiny bit of oil, wrap with a scarf for about half an hour. The key to this method is not to overly wet the hair and to give it half an hour.

I do like my fuzz halo though and I have a high fuzz tolerance. I find that this method works best if you don't mind a little fuzz after 6 hours or so.

Some days I can get away with a little water and then whipped shea butter (or Jane Carter Nourish and Shine). I find that those days are usually within days of a fresh wash. It doesn't work on "dirty" hair.

I agree with Jc about not overly wetting the hair. I only spritz with a bit of water.

In this humidity I've been seeing plenty of fuzz on my head. For the past couple of days, I've been wearing my hair in two ponytails. So this morning, I used Qhemet's Amla Oil Pomade to slick my damp hair. I covered it with a scarf for maybe 20 minutes or so and it's still slick and smooth so I guess topping w/the pomade is a winner.
